Wait… a lifelong Mets fan just flipped to the Yankees? Yeah, this actually happened.
Listen… we’ve seen bandwagon fans before. We’ve seen casual flips when teams get hot. That’s not this.
This is a guy who spent nearly SIX decades bleeding orange and blue… just waking up one morning and saying, “Yeah, I’m done.”
And not quietly either.
Sid Rosenberg didn’t just leave the Mets — he made sure everybody heard it.
My new BFF! The great Randy Levine! President of the New York Yankees!!

This Was Personal — Not Baseball
Let’s be real for a second… this had nothing to do with batting averages, rotations, or bullpen meltdowns.
Rosenberg made that crystal clear.
He didn’t switch because the Yankees are better. He didn’t switch because of a playoff run. He switched because — in his words — the Mets “stopped being fun.”
But if you actually follow what he’s been saying, this goes way deeper than “fun.”
He’s talking politics. Culture. Identity.
And that’s where this thing exploded.
From calling them the “Mamdani Mets” to blasting the organization over promotional decisions, Rosenberg basically drew a line in the sand and said: I don’t recognize this team anymore.
No Jewish Heritage Night? The @Mets should be ashamed of themselves!!! I really did make the right decision! Lets Go @Yankees!@craigcartonlive pic.twitter.com/SxauLxVUSW

That’s not a slump reaction. That’s a full disconnect.
And Then… He Put On The Jersey
This is where it gets wild.
Because it’s one thing to complain. Mets fans do that daily. That’s part of the experience.
It’s another thing to walk into Yankee Stadium… wearing an Aaron Judge jersey… smiling like you’ve been there your whole life.
You cannot make this stuff up.
And yeah — Yankees fans ate it up.
Not because of who he is. But because of what it represents.
Another voice, loud one at that, choosing the Bronx over Queens.
Thank you Randy Levine!
Let’s Go Yanks
no more Mamdani Mets! pic.twitter.com/EhurDDQ6Tq— Sid Rosenberg (@sidrosenberg19) April 15, 2026
The Yankee Welcome Was Immediate
Here’s where it gets even more interesting.
This wasn’t just fans on Twitter saying “welcome aboard.”
The GREAT 4 time Yankee World Series champ Tino Martinez also welcoming me to the family late last night! Tino one of my Yankee favorites! Great guy! Thanks Tino! pic.twitter.com/ZhjhqMya1N
— Sid Rosenberg (@sidrosenberg19) April 15, 2026
This was Yankees royalty stepping in.
Tino Martinez. Johnny Damon. Jeff Nelson. Jim Leyritz.
All sending videos basically saying the same thing — you’re one of us now.
That matters.
Because whether you like Rosenberg or not, that kind of reception turns this from a stunt into something bigger.
It gives it weight.
The great @JohnnyDamon welcoming me to the family ahead of my big night tonight in the Bronx! Johnny was a great Yankee between 2006-2009 and had a terrific season with 24 homers and 82 RBI on that World Series winning 2009 team! Johnny is also a great American😉 Thanks Johnny!!! pic.twitter.com/8Y3lQv65XU

He’s Saying Life Is Bigger Than Baseball — But Fans Aren’t Buying It
Listen… Rosenberg’s not hiding from this.
He’s leaning ALL the way in.
His argument? Real life matters more than sports. City. Country. Faith. That’s what he’s standing on.
He straight up said baseball is “nonsense.” Just an escape. Nothing more.

And look… on paper? That sounds noble. Bigger-picture thinking. Priorities in line.
But here’s the problem.
You don’t spend nearly 60 years living and dying with a team… just to wake up one day and call it meaningless.
That’s where people aren’t buying it.
Because fandom doesn’t work like that.
You don’t get to rewrite the importance AFTER you walk away from it.
That’s like grinding through decades of heartbreak, memories, moments… and then saying, “yeah none of that mattered anyway.”
Come on.
And this is the same guy who used to say you never turn on your team.
That’s the code.
You ride it out. You suffer. You complain. You stay.
That’s what being a fan actually is.
And then… he didn’t.
So yeah — Mets fans are calling it betrayal.
And whether you agree with his reasoning or not… from THEIR side?
They’re not crazy for seeing it that way.
What This Actually Says About The Yankees
Here’s the part people don’t want to say out loud.
The Yankees are bigger than baseball.
They’ve always been.
They’re not just a team — they’re a brand, a symbol, a fallback when everything else feels off.
That’s why when someone flips like this, they don’t go to the Marlins. They don’t go to the Royals.
They come to the Yankees.
Because if you’re making a statement… that’s the loudest one you can make.
So What Now?
Now it gets interesting.
Because the real test isn’t showing up in a Judge jersey for a week.
It’s July. It’s August. It’s when the Yankees hit a rough patch — because they will.
That’s when we find out if this is real… or just a moment.
But for now?
One of the most vocal Mets fans in New York just walked into the Bronx and said, “I’m with them now.”
And whether you respect it, hate it, or laugh at it…
You’re definitely paying attention.
