Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Aaron Judge’s first on-field batting practice session since going on the disabled list in late July went “really well.”

“A typical Aaron Judge BP, putting on a show,” Boone said. “It went really well. Another big step for him to get out on the field and now we’ll start hopefully — as he bounces back, we’ll ramp that up and start to really talk about building up the endurance.”

The team is still figuring out how it will get Judge into game shape.

“That’s something we’ll weigh,” Boone said. “We’re not at the point where we’d throw him into games yet. If and when that time comes, he may be able to go get simulated at-bats in Tampa, if we decide to go that route. If the Railriders becomes an option, we’ll consider that. We just want to get through these next couple of days where he starts ramping up the amount of swings out on the field and continues to build that momentum.”

MINNEAPOLIS — Yankees star Aaron Judge had said he hoped to take batting practice on the field at some point during a series with the Twins this week.

Didn’t take long.

Judge seemed to have no trouble with BP at Target Field on Monday afternoon.

With coaching assistant Brett Weber throwing, Judge completed a full round of swings. Then he played catch with manager Aaron Boone.

Andujar to left field?

Judge seemed to be in good spirits while joking around with Tyler Austin, a Twins first baseman whom the Yankees traded (alongside a minor-league pitcher) before the deadline in exchange for pitcher Lance Lynn.

We’ll have more from Judge and Boone when media availability begins shortly.
