The Yankees lost 6-1 to the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, and at this point, the final score is only part of the story.
Yes, Joe Ryan shoved. Yes, the Yankees offense looked asleep again. Yes, the defense kicked the ball around again. But the real story is bigger than one ugly afternoon in the Bronx.
This was the Yankees’ ninth loss in their last 10 games. They already went through a seven-game losing streak. They have watched the AL East slip away from them. And now, as they head into a four-game series against the Rays, the fan base is not just angry anymore.
They are openly calling for Aaron Boone’s job.
You see it all over social media. Fire Boone. Fire Cashman. Enough is enough. Same movie, different summer. And honestly, can you blame fans for feeling that way?
This Looked Like The Same Old Boone Slump
The Yankees can point to injuries. Aaron Judge is out. Giancarlo Stanton has been out. Other guys have gone down. That is real. Nobody is pretending losing star players does not hurt.

The Yankees committed another error Sunday, with Anthony Volpe misplaying a high chopper in the sixth inning. That mistake helped open the door for Minnesota to add two more runs.
And this is not some random one-game thing.
The Yankees have now made 20 errors in their last 15 games. They have allowed 29 unearned runs during that stretch. That is not championship baseball. That is not even clean regular-season baseball. That is a team giving opponents free outs, free runs, and free innings.
Bad teams do that.
And right now, the Yankees are playing bad baseball.
Joe Ryan Made Them Look Dead At The Plate
Ryan went seven scoreless innings, allowed only three hits, walked one, and struck out nine. He did exactly what good pitchers do to a lineup that is pressing and lifeless.

The Fans Are Looking At The Manager Now
This is why the Boone conversation is exploding again.
Fans are not only mad because the Yankees lost to the Twins. They are mad because this feels familiar. The summer slide. The flat at-bats. The sloppy defense. The baserunning mistakes. The relaxed attitude while the whole thing burns around them.
That is where Boone gets hit the hardest.
People look at this team and see no edge. No accountability. No urgency. And when that becomes the reputation of your club year after year, the manager is going to wear it.
That is also why even the Jazz Chisholm lollipop stuff became a bigger symbol than it probably should have been. Fans saw that and said, “There it is.” Not because a lollipop lost the game. Obviously not. But because it fed into the same complaint fans already had — this team looks too comfortable losing.
The Yankees Are Running Out Of Room To Sell Patience
The Twins won a series at Yankee Stadium for the first time since 2014. The Yankees dropped to 49-40. Jazz Chisholm Jr. left with a right toe injury. Ryan Weathers gave up four runs in four-plus innings. Camilo Doval got dragged into another messy inning after the Volpe error.
Everything about this team feels heavy right now.
And now they get Tampa Bay next, with Cam Schlittler opening the four-game series. Great. Another division test while the Yankees are playing their worst baseball of the season.
This is where the Yankees usually ask fans to stay calm.
But fans are tired of being told to relax while watching the same problems repeat. They are tired of hearing about talent on paper. They are tired of “turn the page.” They are tired of waiting for a clean brand of baseball that never seems to show up long enough.
The Yankees do not need another soft speech.
They need to stop embarrassing themselves.
And if they cannot do that under Boone, then the calls fans are making are only going to get louder.
