WASHINGTON — Things aren’t looking good for the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals as they try to play 1 1/2 games on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 (5/16/18) at Nationals Park.

Yep. That’s right. More than one game.

Tuesday’s Yankees-Nats game was suspended due to rain after 5 1/2 innings with the score tied at 3-all.

They will pick that game back up at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday. They will play their originally scheduled game after. That game was supposed to start at 7:05 p.m.

But it might be that neither game gets played.

We’ll provide weather updates all day here.

From the National Weather Service:

WEDNESDAY: A chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 76. East wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 64. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Here’s what Yankees manager Aaron Boone said about the forecast:

“Obviously, the forecast we know doesn’t look great. So all we can do is hope that something breaks up for us and get prepared to hopefully start at 5 o’clock and hope that we can get a couple games in but obviously that’s out of our hands. So, we’ll see.”

And here’s what Boone said about dealing with yet another weather issue:

“Part of being a big-leaguer, part of being a pro. You have to deal with different things that come up and adversity. Whether it’s injuries or whether issues that we’ve had to face. That’s part of it. We’ve got to deal with it and our guys will be really good at dealing with whatever the circumstance is, whatever we’re thrown into.”
