MLB All-Star Game 2018 voting: Will Yankees’ Aaron Judge have any teammates in starting lineup?

The 2018 MLB All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 (7/17/18) at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge, DH Giancarlo Stanton, shortstop Didi Gregorius, catcher Gary Sanchez, rookie second baseman Gleyber Torres and rookie third baseman Miguel Andujar are vying for spots in the American League’s starting lineup.

The latest round of ballots have been counted for the 2018 MLB All-Star Game, and right now, the only Yankees position player with the inside track on starting for the American League is Aaron Judge.

Catcher Gary Sanchez is in the running at catcher (although his availability would be very much in doubt after landing on the disabled list with a strained groin). DH Giancarlo Stanton, shortstop Didi Gregorius, rookie second baseman Gleyber Torres and rookie third baseman Miguel Andujar have impressive vote totals, but not enough to crack the lineup, as of right now.

But Luis Severino should be on the American League pitching staff, and might be in line to start the game.

The American League and National League All-Star Teams for the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star Game presented by Mastercard will be unveiled on Sunday, July 8th at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on the “Camping World All-Star Selection Show” on ESPN prior to the network’s 8:00 p.m. (ET) “Sunday Night Baseball Presented by Taco Bell” telecast featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Los Angeles Angels, Major League Baseball announced today.

The AL All-Star Team will have nine elected starters via the Camping World MLB All-Star Ballot, while the NL All-Star Team will have eight fan-elected starters. The ballot, which is available exclusively online, will be available until Thursday at 11:59 p.m. (ET). The pitchers and reserves for both squads – totaling 23 for the NL and 22 for the AL – will be determined through a combination of “Player Ballot” choices and selections made by the Commissioner’s Office.

Following the announcement of the American League and National League All-Star rosters, fans will begin voting to select the final player for each League’s 32-man roster via the 2018 Camping World MLB All-Star Final Vote. Fans will cast their votes from a list of five players from each League over the balloting period. Now in its 17th season with over 760 million votes cast, fans again will be able to make their Final Vote selections on MLB.com, the Club sites and on the MLB At Bat and Ballpark mobile apps. MLB All-Star Week includes the MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard at Nationals Park (July 17th), Gatorade All-Star Workout Day featuring the T-Mobile Home Run Derby (July 16th), All-Star Sunday featuring the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game (July 15th), GEICO All-Star FanFest at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (July 13th-17th), plus a lineup of additional events taking place around the city. The 89th Midsummer Classic will be televised nationally by FOX Sports; in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS; and worldwide by partners in more than 180 countries.
