WFAN’s Mike Francesa’s maiden tweet will come with pomp and circumstance

WFAN’s Mike Francesa has announced when he will tweet for the first time, and where he will send the tweet from.

The Royal Wedding is now the second-most anticipated international event this weekend.

Mike Francesa’s Twitter account is now live – he’s at @MikeFrancesa, if you are interested in following – and his first tweet will come under rather regal conditions. Francesa is scheduled to fire out his first tweet at 1 p.m. from live inside Twitter’s New York headquarters, according to WFAN producer Brian Monzo.

Francesa will tweet from Twitter HQ at the social media giant’s request, according to Monzo.

Francesa announced Wednesday he would launch his own Twitter account. It was a surprising development considering he had often dismissed the idea of joining the social media platform.

“There will be a real Mike Francesa Twitter account that I will use, I will make comments on,” Francesa said. “It will be me, and no one else.”

Francesa mentioned Twitter told him there were “80” parody accounts either in his name or paying homage to him (the legendary @MikeFrancesaNY being the most prominent), but said he does not know if that number is accurate.

Francesa said he plans to tweet frequently, although he indicated he does not plan to respond to tweets sent his way.

“I don’t see how I could do that in terms of time … it’s just impossible to do,” he said, adding he has thought about joining Twitter for some time, and has now been talked into it by others.

“I will be using it this weekend,” Francesa said. “That will be started.”

And we now have a start time.
