NEW YORK — The results from Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge’s first start in almost two months didn’t tell the story.

At all.

Judge was 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Tuesday night’s 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox, but he hit a 112.1-mph lineout to center, he hit a hard grounder that was turned into a double play, his pop fly to right nearly carried over the short porch at Yankee Stadium and he worked a full count on his K.

7 reasons Yankees couldn’t prevent Red Sox 3-peat in AL East

His at-bats were pretty impressive considering the only others that he’s had since suffering a chip fracture to his right wrist on July 26 came during simulated games during Monday’s off day and Tuesday morning.

Judge came off the disabled list last Friday and played two innings of right field that night against the Toronto Blue Jays, but the Yankees didn’t allow him to hit in a game until Tuesday.

Judge wasn’t supposed to start Tuesday.

The Yankees changed their mind after a morning decision to push back the start time of their series opener against the Red Sox from 1:05 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. due to rainy weather coming.

It rained cats and dogs Tuesday afternoon, but by then Judge convinced his manager, GM and training staff that he was ready to start hitting in a game.

Here is what Judge had to say following Tuesday’s win, one in which the Yankees trailed 1-0 until Neil Walker hit a three-run, seventh-inning homer.
