Alabama football head coach Nick Saban loves a winner. The six-time national champion appears to be a fan of the New York Yankees, winners of 27 World Series titles.

Is Alabama coach Nick Saban a Yankees fan?

That question comes to mind after watching the video below, which was posted Friday by TMZ. Saban comes into the frame 10 seconds in, and he is wearing a Yankees t-shirt which reads “Yankees Baseball” (although it appears the t-shirt might be on inside out).

Per TMZ:

The Alabama football coach took some of his players on a boat trip in Lake Tuscaloosa for some team bonding on Thursday … which sounds like a perfectly great time, except for one minor detail:

Somebody forgot to fill the gas tank!!

Thankfully, national championship hero Tua Taqovailoa documented the players’ hilarious reactions when they realized they were stuck … while Saban appears to make a call for help.

Saban doesn’t appear to have many ties to the Yankees. But one bond is his friendship with former manager Joe Girardi.

The former skipper attended the Alabama-LSU game last season as a guest of Saban:

“I think he’s coming to the LSU game, and I hope he’s bringing his whole family,” Saban said in a brief, 10-minute phone call to Thursday’s ‘Hey Coach!’ “It’ll be good to see him again.”

Saban won his sixth national championship in January, sneaking by Georgia, 26-23.

As for Girardi, he was let go after the 2017 season, which ended with a Game 7 loss in the ALCS to the Houston Astros.

Yankees 6th starter candidates

Girardi spent 10 seasons as Yankees manager, leading them to a World Series title in 2009.

Girardi, now an analyst for FOX, was rumored to be a candidate for the managerial opening with the Cincinnati Reds when they fired Bryan Price last month.

Instead, the Reds named Jim Riggleman the interim manager.
