Doctor gives Yankees’ Aaron Judge bad news

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge has been on the disabled list with a right wrist fracture since July 27, 2018 (7/27/18). Without the right fielder, the Yankees fell as far back as 9.5 games behind the first-place Boston Red Sox in the American League East.

NEW YORK — Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he hadn’t spoken to the doctor who examined slugger Aaron Judge‘s fractured wrist early Thursday evening.

Judge, however, had an update, and it didn’t sound so good.

He said the fracture still hasn’t healed after he watched the Yankees win, 7-3, over the Rangers at Yankee Stadium, extending their winning streak to four games.

“There’s going to be discomfort for a while,” Judge said. “It’s still fractured. So, [we’re] going to wait until it heals up, and I guess I’ll move forward with some throwing and stuff like that.”

Judge said it was a “day to day” when he’ll start swinging.

Judge has been on the disabled list since July 27. The day before, a Royals pitcher Jakob Junis hit him on the wrist with a 93-mph fastball in the first inning. He stayed in the game but came out before the fifth inning.

On Thursday, Judge ran the bases under the supervision of first-base coach Reggie Willits, who is also the Yankees’ instructor for outfielders and base-running.

The Yankees are 7-6 in 13 games since Judge went on the disabled list.

Some notes from the Yankees following Thursday’s victory:
