Yankees manager Aaron Boone explains the adjustments the team will make following two straight rain-ruined days in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON — Nothing happened. Yet some things will change.
After the Yankees and Nationals were rained at Nationals Park out for a second straight day Wednesday, manager Aaron Boone explained how it will affect the club.

Makeup date
The Yankees and Nationals will resume the game that rain interrupted after 5 1/2 innings Tuesday and Wednesday’s originally scheduled game at 5:05 p.m. June 18 at Nationals Park.
State of the rotation
CC Sabathia was slated to start Wednesday. Now, he’ll start Friday in Kansas City, Boone said.
Fifth starter Domingo German will be available out of the bullpen at least Friday and Saturday, the manager said.
The rest of the rotation: Luis Severino on Saturday, Sonny Gray on Sunday, Masahiro Tanaka on Monday in Texas and German on Tuesday.
How it affects the players
The Yankees haven’t played a full game since Sunday. They were off Monday. And Thursday is another off day.
“We’ll be fine,” Boone said. “We have guys out right now throwing bullpens. Guys are in the cage down there hitting. We obviously played last night. In the end, a couple days here, hopefully we can take advantage of from a rest standpoint, allow us to reset our pen a little bit. We’ll just look at it as a good chance to rest some of our guys.”
Frazier staying
Highly regarded Triple-A outfielder Clint Frazier, a powerful righty hitter, will stay with the team at least through the weekend series in Kansas City, Boone said. The Yankees brought up Frazier as an extra bat playing in the National League, where there’s no designated hitter.
“We have a couple lefties in Kansas City,” Boone said. “I would certainly imagine we’ve got (Danny) Duffy that second day in there. That will almost certainly be in there then and it’ll be something we monitor day by day, but we won’t have him in here just regularly sitting.”
