NEW YORK — Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks sure can hold runners.

But he can’t hold it in.

Hicks said he’s been “peeing like crazy” while getting extra hydrated as part of the rehabilitation of his tight right hamstring at a press conference at Yankee Stadium on Sunday.

Hicks said he believes he’ll be able to start Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Red Sox in the Bronx.

Hicks left the fourth inning of Game 1 feeling what he described as cramps in the hamstring. They’re just about gone now, he said.

“I feel good,” he said. “When I woke up (Sunday), things are just going well. When I was walking around, everything felt pretty much normal.”

He added, “I’ve been pretty much eager to get on the field and playing these games. These are meaningful games, and I want to be out there with my team.”

Hicks left Game 1 after reaching first base on a line-drive single. Hicks ran slowly to the base, stretched a lot and play was stopped as manager Aaron Boone and trainer Steve Donohue checked on him. Then they walked Hicks off the field.

Brett Gardner has been playing in Hicks’ place. In Saturday’s Game 2 win in Boston, Gardner walked twice.

Boone said he’s “hopeful” Hicks will play Monday.

“He’s been getting treatment now, feels better (Sunday), but we’re not going to do much with it (Sunday),” he said. “I think we’ll really get after it and test it out again tomorrow and kind of make a decision on it. But hopeful that he’ll be able to go.”

He added that he doesn’t think taking Hicks off the playoff roster will be considered.

“Because at worst,” Boone said, “I feel like it’s a day-to-day situation. So if we were going to make a move like that, then you’d potentially lose him for considerable time. I don’t think we’re anywhere near that.”
