NEW YORK — There were big cheers at Citi Field before the Mets hit two first-inning homers off Yankees starter Domingo German in Saturday night’s Subway Series game.

Fans showing up early got to watch the 150th Belmont Stakes on the video board and a lot of them were into seeing Justify go wire to wire to become horse racing’s Triple Crown winner.

There was only a little cheering early in the race, but it picked up midway through and then got very loud as Justify hit the home stretch leading the field of 10 and then hold off runner up Gronkowski by one and three-quarter lengths.
