NEW YORK — Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley wouldn’t mind lining up behind someone the size of Yankees slugger Aaron Judge.

Actually, that’s what Barkley told Judge recently.

“He just laughed it off,” Barkley said at CC Sabathia‘s celebrity softball game on Thursday. “It was just fun, a little joke. I said, ‘If you need a spot, the Giants are here for you.'”

At 6-foot-7, 280 pounds, Judge is built like a tight end, a left tackle or even a linebacker.

That’s not to mention his ridiculous strength, above-average speed and incredible athleticism for somebody his size.

Barkley, the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, was asked if he really thought Judge could play in the NFL.

“I’d have to see him run some routes but he’s definitely big enough to play somewhere on an NFL roster and if he ever decides to make that switch, the Giants — there’s definitely a spot for him on the Giants,” the former Penn State running back said.

So, Judge might make a good tight end?

Barkley said Judge reminded him a bit of Patriots star Rob Grownskowski, who is 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds.

“Definitely tight end,” Barkley said. “He’s built like a Gronk-type. Maybe even a little bigger than Gronk. How big is he? 260? 270? 280? Wow. And he could move well. He definitely can catch the ball, run routes and block.”

D-I football programs Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA and Washington — and others — reached out to Judge before he decided to play baseball full time at Fresno State, according to Mike Huber, his Stockton High School football coach.
