The Twinbill Podcast: Pyramid of Shame: Yanks swept by Houston, Hal Loves Boone, No Changes Expected

Legends [Music]
[Music] another end in another Yankee season
ends in no World Series hell we got swept
I don’t remember the last time that happened at Yankee Stadium it did happen though in the ALCS in 2012
but we were a Comerica nonetheless Yankee fans are pissed I’m pissed Lucas
pissed everyone has a right to be pissed and I think change needs to happen um we’ve been calling for this for
months obviously people haven’t seen the light till now but
welcome to the twin Bill podcast everybody be sure to hit that like button comment and subscribe turn on
post notifications so you know when the live stream pops Revenue drops appreciate you all coming back um I know I say that for my channel but
also NY news TV as well become a member you get a lot of cool perks within the
Discord and all these other different things as well so uh Luca let’s start it
off for us I’m I’m pretty numb honestly
um he obviously had we barely scratched out of that Series against the Guardians
the American League Division Series and against Houston we totally just fell
on the floor no pulse no nothing we had some pulse in game four but
that was taken away from us this team has no fight this team has no leadership this team has no manager this team has
no general manager this team doesn’t have a proper owner Steven doesn’t have a lot of things right now and I don’t have a lot of Hope
pulling out yeah um so we’re going to get into a lot of things today mostly we’re gonna you know
before the show a couple of years ago I did uh I did a segment on my podcast
called the Pyramid of blame so I suggested that to Luca he’s like I
don’t know that doesn’t really sound good so I switched a letter around a few letters actually and now we’re gonna
call it the Pyramid of Shame um because it all goes
through a few few different things really um we’re gonna start off with the players Aaron Boone Brian Cashman Hal
Steinbrenner and then a little tidbit the media um but this is this is how it’s going to
be for the podcast we’re not going to hold back this will probably be the last time I wear a Yankee Jersey this season
with this fall winter whatever you want to call this I’m putting this away I’m embarrassed to wear this yeah I mean I’m
not even wearing you know it so you know that just tells you how how pissed off we are how much change needs to happen
will it happen we’ll talk about it of course um but let’s go to level one of the
Pyramid of Shame Luca if you want to start us off all right we are with the players and
these are my least favorite kind of players throughout the season I’m just going to start Josh Donaldson
we’ll go by one one by one by the way Josh Donaldson number one a washed up player who was acquired in a
horrendous trade an underperformed expectations and he was horrible in the
postseason like and it’s also let me also make you know he loves to pin Pat home runs or
what he thinks are home runs so I mean what else can I say a lot what do
you expect a 36 year old third baseman to play like at his age and acquiring
him along with Isaiah kind of loving the horrible Gary Sanders trade control all the into it Dallas hit and hit 172 in
the postseason 333 on base percentage not that good during the regular season
obviously the 2020 season if you want to count that that was his lowest home run Mark since 2012 and that was a
technically second season in the MLB so with the Athletics so
he just passed his prime there’s nothing much to say about that he’s a clown he’s a fool
and Brian cashman’s more of a full for trading for him no it’s just and take it on the money 21
million dollars for the next two years come on in uh each season this is Square Peg and round hole I mean
they wanted a guy with fight first of all they’ve been looking for a guy with quote unquote fight ever since there
were rumors about the front office wanting to hire Buck show alternate season last year when he was still working as a yes uh network analyst
so you have that and then you proceed to this year where they want to get a guy
with fight and you know balls supposedly as a player they get Josh Donaldson uh
except it’s five years too late and when he actually shows balls it’s either not
at a good time or it’s you know they neuter him that old Jackie Robinson Tim
Anderson thing they neutered him Aaron judge you know basically pushed him down the chain uh I don’t really have a good
word to describe it but they neutered him in that situation because they didn’t want the whole political backlash
which they’re you know the Yankees were clearly in the right but um you know that’s the situation that’s pretty much
dead water right now it’s water under the bridge um you know he didn’t have a good season
the season prior we hit around what 247. um just just a weird player man just a
weird player a few years ago if you would have gotten him off the prime uh you know when he was with the blue jays
and when he was doing stuff in the postseason this is a different story but the Yankees like to acquire players that
are way too late marwin Gonzalez you know he had a prime with Houston uh Troy Tulowitzki he had a prime in Colorado
and a little bit in uh Toronto as well he named a bunch of other players
um but this is what the Yankees do they get injured past their Prime players and
obviously it doesn’t work out as a result and for the next two years we’re paying what 50 million dollars for Josh
Donaldson should be around that yeah so it’s not it’s not an ideal fit
um you know pimping out the home runs when they’re singles and doubles I mean that’s just it’s just for effort and
poor play and an ego listen sometimes you can have an ego when you have enough
to back it up Josh Donaldson didn’t have enough to back it up this season and the
fact that the Yankees stuck with him is ludicrous I agree 100 Alex it was a horrible
acquisition so that horrible acquisition we go to
another horrible acquisition Isaiah Kyler falafa
gas field I can’t field we as fans were gaslit by the Yankees
organization that this guy was an elite shortstop you couldn’t stop Aaron Boone from talking about how lead shortstop he
was he couldn’t stop being played across the postseason when he was making error after ever error he is a better third
baseman than he is a shortstop but the Yankees don’t realize that they like to suit their ego instead of suiting their
team and he was also praised as God as this guy that would hit 300
Yankee fans but that’s besides the point four homers 48 RBIs 261 batting average
we move into his Fielding statistics 97 Fielding percentage around 97.90 well
let me do that number again 97. 15 errors
last season or this season one and shortstop 2020 2021 I want to look
that up and see if it’s actually either worse or better I think it’s I think ikf stats are worse but we already know what
the Yankees do I’m just trying to suit a point here in 2021 glaber tours at shortstop
had 18 errors oh 2029
okay so and that was in 40 games so do the math you would have a lot had a lot
more okay so technically he was a worse shortstop than ICF yes but if you want
to go on so you have that Isaiah kind of left a horrible horrible trade the Yankees and
even with those two let me mention Yankees ultimately missed out on Carlos Correa they gave him the money to sign
Correa or at least the twins opened got an open space for shella Sanchez you
know the deal and Ben Rover who was inevitably whose sub fans questioned the existence
of of they might think he’s just a doppelganger of some random guy
Aaron Hicks I gotta give my opinion on Ikea oh
yeah don’t don’t skip over me anyway um
we actually thought he would be a solid Fielder at shortstop right um I know that Pete was one of the first
guys talking about ikf as a possible okay you get this guy
[Music] um but he was she was bad for the Yankees he was just terrible
um this is another thing of once again the Yankees putting a round peg in his square hole or you know a square peg and
a round hole whatever the hell you want to call it um but it was just bad all the way and
you know what half of it’s him half of it’s the organization
but you know you’re not taking on a lot of money with him he’s still a young
player it’s horrible that you know his dad and him got threatened and harassed
and stuff I don’t condone that well actually is that the right word well I I get I guess it is
um but anyway just another bad fit for the New York Yankees and you know they
could have just done the Astros thing they could have just went with the Oswald Peraza but
they didn’t do that and the stop caps only sport was supposed to start like half the year that’s what normal stop
gaps do so you still started the whole year at shortstop and they didn’t learn from the Laboratories incident
and he started the whole season terrible again as you said hi Oswald I
think the Isaiah kind of philosopher acquisition would have been just is just this is the same as if the Yankees would
have signed angelton Simmons Simmons actually was a shortstop though
yeah Simmons was better defensive and they didn’t I’ll make this now once again I I blame organization
and I also blame my KF because you got to adjust at some point or tell them listen I’m not a good shortstop you
gotta move me but in terms of the organization they didn’t want to move off their egos with Josh Donaldson when
it was very clear when Ikea started playing Third Base because Donaldson was injured or whatever the case was they
didn’t want to move off Donaldson’s ego forever so they put um ICF at third for a very short time and
then when Donaldson came back they didn’t want to move off their ego they didn’t want to you know have that 25 50
million dollar play over the next two years sit on the bench so um that’s just another another mishap by
this Yankees organization once again that goes in the Pyramid of Shame
yeah of course so next up as I marked on earlier Aaron
Hicks now he had a solid start to the season got injured
and then notoriously mailed in a few plays caught
not hustling on a few plays including the one against the Rays where he just gave up on a ball in left field
and he called out Yankee management talking about the Joey Gallo trade where
he would be useful all these different kinds of things and the Yankees still played him
in the postseason in the regular season no accountability Alex your thoughts
it was just it was once again sticking to egos that’s what it was
um you know the fact that let alone you know you have two situations right you
talked about where he questioned the coaching staff he questioned management because oh Joey Gallo Luca Joey Gallo
was doing so good in La she’s doing great he was playing great baseball he
was hitting like 15 home runs and 253 batting average no he wasn’t doing anything like that in uh L.A but more to
the point of Aaron Hicks you know usually when you call out management
they’ll either resort to doing the right thing or it will say shut up we’re benching you and
they didn’t do either and maybe they didn’t want to look bad
on a political standpoint or Optic status I’m telling you it was Optics but
let me ask you a question that question is what did the Mets do with Robinson canoe
they ate all the money and they designated him for Simon like that isn’t the uh isn’t the
Ellsbury contract way worse than the Aaron Hicks contract 100 yeah
it’s Brian Cashman not wanting to go off a mistake it’s that simple Ellsbury I think got like around 23
million dollars a year X is getting 10 million and
I think when Brian Cashman first signed Howard Hicks he said something like I’m betting on you I like
and then the report detailed how he likes Aaron hicks’s plate discipline
yeah I mean I I there was a lot of people on Twitter that were getting obsessed about his walks I’m like he he
sucks why why are we upset again we always it seems that sometimes Yankee
fans overrate their own players and try to find something and nitpick at something yeah it makes them look good and Aaron Hicks never looked good this
season except for like the little bit tidbit at the start um but no it’s just total just a total
total mishap I mean it’s going to be interesting to see what happens next year how the hell do the Yankees move
them I don’t here’s the thing before you could even talk about that will they move him and I know obviously you could
reverse those questions um but I don’t even have the confidence that they’re gonna move them I don’t
think so he was gonna take Aaron Hicks a washed up player who doesn’t try he’s
not a team player it’s very obvious it’s like a lesser productive version of Julius Randle from last year
if you want to make that comparison or not I’m making that comparison she’d rather analytics rather go out and play
golf be the next Tiger Woods but no he should he should he should go for the PGA tournament but let me ask you this
once again what happens if he’s in left field next year he’s going to be he can’t be in
left field next year I would not bet against it I’m sorry I would not bet you you should not make
that proposition because either way a resigned judge or you don’t resigned
judge you have Bader and centered you have Oswald I’m sorry is will the cabern
left probably that in Whitefield where you can mix it up you can have Cabrero might kill Ben
and tend to your left Vader and Center as if Benedict gets resigned and I don’t I I don’t know I have confidence in that
yeah I don’t know if I have the confidence that the Yankees are going to use them correctly so that would be like the ultimate worst case scenario
broadcast Schmidt would have that would be like a kind of a less Stitch effort thing but yeah
no I I fully agree with you that’s like having confidence in a piece of crap it’s just gonna be sitting there it’s
not gonna be doing anything I guess that’s a comparison I’m gonna move on yeah I mean that’s what x is but
anyway moving on um I’ll roll this Chapman who won’t be a
Yankee after the season most likely his highlights of the Season being an abomination of a relief pitcher get a
closer just wild and wildly inconsistent that
was his best mark his our arm is blown out and yet
goes on the IL with a tattoo infection why would you get a tattoo in the middle
of the season and desserts teams deserts the Yankees before the playoffs out of pure
pettiness that he might not even make the roster Alex I mean he’s been horrible for at least
the last two years and he is the anti-clutch
he is the anti-cloud he’s the antithesis of clutch
Purcell 2021 he just didn’t have a good season he was horrible I remember so many
instances he had the Jared Walsh Grand Slam and the Yankees
were up like 8-2 and then they brought in Chapman I think somebody else or him
gave up two runs and then I was I was watching I was like no no it was lydgy
after him no might have been the Yankees blew that game there’s just been so many instances of
this guy cracking under pressure he does not care you know you know every everybody like
blows away with the smiles they blow that off but I just don’t I just think he’s like a deceptor like he’s kind of
deceiving in some ways but I think he’s a jerk of a person and I don’t think he’s gonna should be Yankee next year
kind of come up with a catchy name not the Cuban Missile because well he
sucks Cuban missiles technically is nicknamed except he has no control over what the he’s doing
it’s true um no but he’s been horrible if you’re talking regular season the last two
years I mean that’s pretty much that we started questioning I literally said before the season I called for it so
many times people thought I was an idiot because you’re gonna move 18 million dollars are you gonna do this are you gonna do that I said move him before the
season find out who’s your closer Jonathan Luisa actually was my number one candidate before we discovered how
good clay Holmes was before he fell off um but man it didn’t it wasn’t surprising
to see how it ended because Chapman is a stuck up piece of so is Brian Cashman
um Brian Cashman yelled at him on the phone because he didn’t want to come to the workouts honestly don’t even talk
talk about um you know oh he’s gonna be off the playoff roster
honestly in my personal opinion you make a statement you cut him now obviously once again why would you cut them always
got only a couple months left on his contract whatever um but that’s making a statement the Yankees don’t have accountability we’re
going to get into that at some point but they let it go down to the wire with the world as Chapman there’s no way he
should have been through this full contract and he’s just a terrible person and it’s over with it’s done but the
damage was done roll this Chapman when his first tenure was the Yankee the Yankees I think trade for him in that
big trade with Eric jejalo and band uh and all these different guys and Tony
Renda that’s the guy who I was thinking of you know call them okay Caleb Cosmo oh God he was a bad
picture Hey listen you can’t you can’t on him now he’s the pitching coach of a World Series team
oh my God you’re right see see but anyways Chapman acquired by the
Yankees 2016. that was Prime Chapman what the Yankees had after
the Yankees felt good they’re like okay you know what let’s see if he can win that trade all together
they did but they did it obviously if Laboratories and building
McKinney all these different guys they acquired Chapman and he’s never the same 2017 and 27 18 you could probably
argue were his best years but after that was his downhill swing yeah I mean
in 2017 he had his bad moments too you can’t forget it like of course it was I
remember the listen we all remember the game where he gave up a home run to Rafael Devers there was that time where
he came in um I want to say it was after Chad green or Dylan Betances against the Red Sox
and he he uh
I think Ben and tendy was up actually now that I think about it I think he was
but um and then he got that we were at the game against the Jays where him and
Betances were just terrible like Dave that was Betances more potential so
um you could listen he’s had his anti-clutch moments but the worst of it really has been the last two years and
once again the Yankees decided to hold on to him for 18 million dollars I mean
what was it they re-signed him after 2019 correct they gave him that
three-year 54 million dollar contract I will take a look and I remember the
Yankees gave him like 100 or some odd 100 million dollars
in like 2016. I think I was looking at the contract details I’m like you’re paying this guy okay so if you want
specifics he was signed with five-year 86 million dollar deal on December 15
who’s pitching one inning no I I agree he’s not Mo no
never will be a half per year so take that you know as you will
if you’d like to go on moving up we have a joke now this is Yankee for everybody
forgot about Joey gal dead weight that should have been cut
long I called forth and I’m not one of these guys that’s like oh I want to be
right no I I called that he was not going to work out in a Yankees uniform for a long time you know he was never a
fit he was never fit for the New York Market the Yankees didn’t do their
scouting because they knew he had a tick issue and yes Network
nobody for nobody forgets it nobody nobody remembers that either so they all forget about it how the Yes Network
literally made fun of somebody with a mental disability they filmed it on him I’m like dude what are you doing
get this off of him so weird to watch I’m sorry it’s disturbing like if he was just doing it
for attention and didn’t have an issue I’d be like okay well you know what it’s like a Ken Giles thing he punched
himself in the face that’s something that’s got to be put on camera but game after game after game where Joey gal
sucks and he’s not hitting the ball and then he’s raging because of his tick
issue I mean once again that’s like people criticize NY news TV for the
whole Nest or mascot thing but hell they’ll watch the Yes Network they’ll listen to the Yes Network and after all
the the that they cause with Joey Gallo I mean the fan base you know obviously we have expectations but that
was just a whole nother ball game but uh I don’t know if you’ve given up your opinion on Joey yeah I give my little
analysis purely incompetent hitter did not adjust his play style or didn’t
want to and blame the fans yeah I mean a lot of a lot of people
felt bad for him I um I did but I didn’t because okay he didn’t fit the New York Market but at the same time it’s in some
cases you have to adjust he didn’t want to he literally said that he was a uh three outcome hitter and he wasn’t
changing that hit against the shift how many times never never have I seen
him hit against the ship if I’m being nice he was a nightmare to watch in the Yankees uniform and that
trade listen okay we got a double a player back but the damage was still
done absolutely 100 percent that remains another failure of the
blind Cashmere Kyle higashioka hyped in spring training
because he had seven home runs in spring training everybody for remember all these tweets
he’s gonna hit 30 home runs he’s going to be an All-Star catcher plunges levels to incompetence and talks
about Alex Alex bregman’s swing in game two of the alc it’s
excuses Alice pause recording
yeah I mean we people hyped them up obviously because
of the spring training but at the same time he was like the only
backup option well he was really the only catcher option with Sanchez and a
ton of the fan base was like on Gary Sanchez’s ass in 2021 so everybody thought he could show God he was he’s
this grand prize right um but the truth is he wasn’t much
better like the excuses that’s terrible it was like the consolation prize for
Gary Sanchez he wasn’t a proper starting Catcher And you know what maybe the Yankees can go out this off season
though it’s not really a top priority and get a catcher who can split the time with Trevino and now that you know
higushioka might be making more money do you call up Road vet and see if he could you know at least be a solid defensive
piece compared to keeping hikishioka and him question is his Roar are you betting
Roar vet to be the future it depends because you have Trevino you have Rory I
mean Benward didn’t get any at bats to my knowledge he didn’t even play in any games uh for the MLB this year at least
you know the Yankee aspect but that’s kind of what they did with higushioca they slowly started playing
him they let Austin Romine go so this might be part of their their plan they
could possibly yeah um you know go out say Rob Brantley can you cover Road Vet
spot until we think he’s actually ready but then again they thought he was ready and they traded for him with an injury
so you you could that Brian Cashman knew well about yeah he loves trading he
loves trading for his injured guys yeah and that’s where I really don’t give credit for Jose Trevino because like
yeah neither do I it’s like he wasn’t effect trade it’s not like oh well this guy came out
of the Woodworks this guy Trevino was a defensive good defensive catcher when
you traded for Trevino because Ben roebet did not work out so it’s like it
was a Saving Face kind of move so with that we’re gonna move on to
Frankie Montas yeah acquired at the trade deadline but from
the Oakland Athletics who pitched worse away from Oakland and had shoulder issues probably he got injured in
September and pitched her I think one game in October in game one of the division series I
think didn’t he give up a home run to Jeremy Pena uh he gave it but I don’t know if it was the pain yet but he gave him a home run that’s what I know yep
Pena and yeah as a Yankee
let me get up his stats wanna actually one and three with the six and six three five era
you should I want him gone by the end that’s the consolation prize for not Japanese Castile I said I wanted Castile
I don’t care like everybody’s like ah you know Anthony Volpe this Anthony Volpe that you gotta save Anthony
volpeak the Yankees never have a plan for the rookies so I’m not betting on the fact they will
have a plan for Volpe I do not care that he’s the top one Prospect I don’t care
listen Volpe is great and all in in the in theory in theory in double A
but we have yet to see how even if the Yankees do have a plan for him he’s a prospect he’s not a proven baseball
player in the big leagues he’s a prospect they pan out some don’t
no I definitely agree there I mean I wanted Castillo I wasn’t a guy who
wanted to settle for Montana Castillo dominated for the Mariners but that no I mean didn’t he I mean to be fair he
did blow off blow up in that one playoff game is that correct against the Astros
I feel like he didn’t have a good start but nonetheless there’s no you know you don’t have to do that research if you don’t want to
um but he would he would have been such a plus alongside even when we went to Yankee Stadium
and he pitched in the environment I know he was with the crappy Reds Castillo
as amount as a red pitched like he was pitching game seven of the World Series
he was lights out he lights out against us I think he had one run in his time and was we were nearly no hit
yeah we were like the first place Yankees tell me about it so yeah we completely
missed the uh we missed with Castillo so I’m just I’m trying to look up his uh
Division Series stats obviously wonderful yeah he lost one of his starts but that doesn’t matter the stats
weren’t terrible what about a little bit more of an I mean he probably would have pitched better knowing that he’d be
facing we wouldn’t we would be leaving let’s be honest we’d be leaving Nestor in the bullpen probably it also goes in
there as well tion would have never started against the Astros never it would have been coal
well not organized but it would have been coal Nestor Castillo and Severino
right Castillo is that one to God I agree so that’s how I see in my eyes
so the next level of the puritive Pyramid of Shame
is the one we’re gonna stand up for this the only
Aaron boom our favorite the manager that’s coming
back this year the guy who makes excuses to justify Lucy
who talks about a roof being open that possibly would have or a roof being
closed that possibly would have won the Yankees the game a guy who said that he was being bullied by an Umpire
a guy whose soft mentality who’s basically motivated who motivated the
team with one of the organization’s biggest failures the o4
collapse imagine if Brian Dabo motivated the New York Giants
against Ravens with a 34-7 Super Bowl loss imagine how that would have went
um I gotta find something against nah I can’t find something for them I I’m I
can’t think of it from a football subject but you made your point what a disgrace for Aaron Boone to do
that he’s not a manager he’s just he’s a patsy he’s literally a patsy soft dis
manager around couldn’t manage a bullpen he he manages and quotes with an urgent
no urgency he doesn’t believe his own you you Alex you heard him
throughout the middle of the Year Isaiah kind of left is the one of the best shortstops across MLB when the metrics
say he’s not he kept quoting it and quoting him quoting saying the same I seriously think he is a
pathological liar in my eyes I don’t know if he even believes his own
so if he wasn’t playing ikf and you could debate whether this is front office or
not the fact that he wasn’t playing icamp and elimination games tells that he is not a narcissist he does not
believe his own lies exactly mythological liar it tells you everything you need to know about this
manager it to me when your old players call you out and question your decision
making they don’t respect you Severino CLE homes call him out in game
after game what was it game three of the American League Division Series they all might like him but they just
don’t respect him they don’t they see him as a friend not a leader and that’s a problem the Yankees lack leadership
there’s no tough mentality in that locker room I don’t care who it is the fact you know another thing you probably
didn’t mention yet the Bader thing of course usually you tell your players
listen we’re making a change like if you’re benching somebody in the end you’re gonna tell them you listen you’re
gonna be benched we’re gonna go with this guy he gives us the best chance to win but uh you know Aaron Boone’s like
you know um yeah Harrison you know well you’re going to be banning second you know that would
have been probably the way to tell him except he’s gonna blame him for not looking at a lineup card yeah he
didn’t look it up in his lineup card and all this other I don’t know um I forgot how I did my moon impression
a few hours ago but uh no nonetheless I mean he he’s turned into a box of
excuses again he started into a box of excuses unicornios whatever you want to use and
you know he I feel like he could be a good manager but the problem with that
theory is even in the first half the Yankees didn’t have leadership they didn’t have a strong sense of
accountability they just didn’t have the toughness mile straw goes after Yankee fans the one who put the the
money in the pockets of the players guess what they don’t say anything said something but it wasn’t relatively close
to what you should say when your fans and your consumers and your customers are being attacked I mean I said it all
so it’s not like people taking the Brian Cashman thing out of context um but no I mean he he’s been a terrible
manager this was one of the worst playoffs I’ve seen you know managed because of course did buy the Guardians
and then they get swept there was no fight as you mentioned the Red Sox you didn’t even mention this excuses go
ahead Aaron Boone taking out his Ace three nothing and ALDS game three I think it
was two nothing two nothing and he choose you’re down two runs why not go with your best why not stay with your
best what do you have to lose I mean he essentially told Gary Cole conservative with Garrett coleford he
essentially told Gary Cole you have I have no confidence that you were going to the bullpen right and he was also you in your 36 million dollars
here’s the thing as well sometimes he’s planning ahead when there is no ahead
remember what he said about Ikea of Doubt weeks ahead yeah he said in a couple of weeks no but sometimes he
would jerk off the bullpen by micromanaging that’s what he did again
the first game against the Astros I think it was I want to say it was the first game against the Astros when they had montason and all these different
guys Montage Clark Schmidt yeah and then you know what was it wandy for three
Innings against the Guardians four games in a row sometimes he doesn’t even use his best guys because
he wants to save them for games that don’t even exist no it’s like if he doesn’t like a certain match-up like if
the if he’s forced to pitch tie on he’s gonna be like okay I’m gonna save all my
best eyes for my best match baseball guy he’s male is openly mailing in games and
he’s making excuses to justify losing that’s why I don’t want it back here he’s a search and listen look I
understand that in theory in the first half he was a good manager when he was given the Reigns the Yankees were a
first place team but you could also dissect that Aaron judge was carrying the team that’s
number one the pitching was also Elite pitching was very good at the beginning of the year that’s number two number
three uh let’s see I don’t know this team still didn’t have a sense of leadership I still didn’t have a sense
of accountability so you know I mean Joey Gallo was getting every day reps exactly and
listen it was it costing the Yankees games no was Aaron Hicks playing costing Yankees games no but at the same time
you don’t micromanage that but you micromanage the bullpen for games that you you’re taking off and you’re saving
for future months this is now once again you could factor that in with the front office and then once again go back to
the thing oh Boone is a good manager in theory in the first half well guess what he doesn’t have a tough mentality and he
in my personal opinion is becoming part of the aura nowadays in sports where you
can’t have a tough manager you can’t have a tough run office you can’t just have tough leadership that’s that’s and
I don’t I hate to pick on basketball but that’s what basketball is becoming Stars taking the reins now the Yankees don’t
necessarily have any stars that are being GM’s it’s all being headed by the front office right so listen
he’s just not a competent manager for the New York remember remember Hal steinburner said earlier on Wednesday
you know this guy’s a great manager I don’t see any change happening you know what he’s right he is a great
manager at Taco Bell but could he manage a Dairy Queen
um probably not but I was just about to say something but it’s not well if it’s the podcast anyway
so we all want prepared wood to be fired he won’t be fired so we got to go to his
boss Brian Cashman his time is up dude there’s there’s no
other more bad trades in the last few years then he’s made good trades you could
talk about some of the trades that don’t mean but they mean it’s pretty much for my giant fans out there
Dave gettleman was a horrible general manager horrible signings draft picks that didn’t work out coaches that he
he you just missed on okay coaches he just missed on well what does it tell you when Dave gettleman has been to two
Super Bowl championships did he didn’t get two Super Bowl championships but he
went to two Super Bowls within the last 10 years within the last 10 built a team that went 15-1 but
two Super Bowls in the last 10 to 12 years and he won one as a scout of the New
York Giants but the Yankees haven’t been to the World Series since 2009. correct and
haven’t been close they haven’t even been in the world series that tells you something literally you can make uh an entire
College paper APA format full of bad Brian Cashman trades Edwin
incarnacion signing Chris Carter Jacoby Ellsbury The ikf Donaldson trade the Joey Gallo
trade trade uh Montage trade Montage trade that’s six let’s let’s go to ten
shall we um let’s see well signing Troy Tulowitzki if you really want to count
that Jay Bruce in the beginning half of the year last year is your first baseman
um extending no well that’s that’s kind of
a moot point that’s 2013. extending Aaron Hicks factoring in still fasting I know I know but you’re talking like we
want to be recently Lance Lynn like in that time he I don’t think he was good for the Yankees extending Aaron Hicks
not signing Aaron judge deciding to play the media game and negotiating through
the media the yank remember in 2021 in the off season Brian
cashman’s like we’re going to have more of an open budget we’re going to spend money we’re going to do this and that the Yankees decide to trade for Brian
for Joshua right right yeah the company cash God I mean he’s the best general manager ever let me just read the
Andy Martino or article I just sit through anyway Josh Donaldson icaf but we couldn’t sign any
shortstops because we had to resign Aaron judge what did we not do before the regular season we did not resign our
judge we did not extend our judge we decided to lowball him we decided to
embarrass him in the media we decided to get the media to create spin articles on
Aaron judge and talk about how much of an embarrassment he is and how much Brian Cashman was right because Brian
Cashman has to win every battle he how much do we have to talk about Brian Cashman you know bring it nearly
bringing Aaron judge to arbitration before judge had to settle is that any relevant topic no it’s of
course in time when when people call them cash God and when he made all these great trades at the deadline
um you know listen injuries happen but it’s all about next man up mentality this is a guy that you guys claim and
maybe us too a little bit that he controls Aaron Boone um you know the fact what they’ve done
about the lack of anal how about the analytics system how the Yankees interpret analytics all these do it
doesn’t even belong to a person but he’s in charge of that The Scouting is horrible we CA the way he also hugs
prospects he look at all the mistrates Cliff Lee um Yankees could have Justin Verlander
back in 2017 World Series we could have possibly
won the World Series that year Garrett Cole Luis Castillo was mentioned hugging the
prospects and those prospects almost never pan out because we don’t put them in a position to succeed we instead
manipulate their service time and it’s like what is your strategy here
Cashman what is the strategy but he’s suddenly great GM he’s he’s supposedly
for Randy Martino he’s touted around the league is one of the best one of the greatest Executives across baseball and
sports yeah maybe like 15 years ago if that sorry dude he’s over the hill he’s
past his prime time to get in a fresh new pair of eyes and he’s the problem with Cashman is he has an ego everybody
has an ego but he purposely instills his ego to prevent success on this team how many
times do we see ikf start how many times do we see Josh Donaldson out there towards last year
how many times do we see Aaron Hicks out there Joey Gallo out there because if
you don’t start those guys you’re essentially poo pooing Brian cashman’s moves they would they would rather
you know massage their own ego then have their own team succeed how do they interpret handle how do they interpret
analytics what are their analytics what do their analytics believe do they match up to the guys to the analytics New Age
like the Astros and stuff what did Dylan Lawson do with the Yankees nothing it was the same approach as last season
what is the strategy for the Yankee pitching oh that’s right it’s work off your off speed which makes no sense
you’re not working off your best pitch there’s so much wrong with the organizational philosophy and this is
where we could kind of get into the front office too and I wanna I wanna I wanna test your knowledge okay
the Yankees so I’m comparing work this is a comparison of two teams
um the Yankees right uh they hired Brian Cashman in 1986 obviously he wasn’t
promoted to juice yeah Gene afterman uh
Damon Oppenheimer 2001 and uh Kevin Reese 2007. now you compare that to the
Astros um obviously they did do some cleansing because of the cheating scandal but not
too much uh James click 2020 Andrew ball 2021 Scott Powers 2022 Anthony cuccioni
Goodrum 2022. what team am I talking about what team am I referencing when I’m talking about the Yankees and uh
their Scouts being super old you talk oh the New York Giants
and let me remind you guys before we Bridge into house Steinbrenner if we want to make any more points of course on Brian
Cashman is actually you know what let’s go over that right now do you have any more points to make on Brian Cashman
I I really don’t think I do I honestly don’t we we all said it you know Brian
Cashman lying to the fans gaslighting the fans all these different kinds of things it’s it’s horrible man how could
you possibly after 13 years of straight failure to go to the World Series in a
team in an organization that expects to go to the World Series year after year Luca that’s our fault Andy Martino said
it it’s our fault it’s the fan yeah of course it’s what is Andy Martino knows a lot
but that’s reporter it’s it’s it’s it’s the it’s the principle of failure how
could you keep running it back and not expecting the same result it’s the simple definition of insanity
doing the same thing all over again without changing anything and expecting the same result that’s what this
yankee team is doing Aaron Boone has been the manager for about four or five years now Brian
Cashman has been the general manager for how long now we haven’t won a ship since 2009 it’s time to clean house it’s time
to get rid of both of them yeah so we’re going to bridge into house Steinberg and then we’ll Bridge into our
final topic and then we’ll close up um so Bridging the house Steinbrenner right I was talking about the Giants a few
minutes ago and this is just the comparison we’re not talking you know football we’re not going anything that stuff no I’m just making a comparison so
the Giants have sucked for the last 10 plus years since probably their last Super Bowl which was
in 2011. um so 2012 they weren’t good they were
minimum you know like I think they were like eight and eight maybe nine and seven they didn’t make the playoffs uh so from then on they were just a losing
franchise they had one winning season like I don’t know five six seven it was an outlier year yeah it was it was a
total outlier year so after um you know some things happened
John Mayer forced uh the owner of the Giants forced Tom Coughlin to resign
he kept the GM on though who was way overdue his draft picks were not hitting uh his signings were not hitting things
weren’t just working so it would have made sense okay let’s clean house they didn’t do that they hired Ben McAdoo as
their coach outlier year in 2016 2017 they go and they everything is just
terrible all right it blows up on their face they go 3 and 13. then McAdoo is fired Jerry’s is fired but they didn’t
make the changes they needed to in the front office they went with Dave gettleman who was recently fired parted
ways with the Carolina Panthers what happens the next four years are full of bad coaching and bad players bad
signings bad draft picks so it literally took for Rock Bottom to hit and I think
the Yankees are at rock bottom right now because they haven’t had anything to really live on I think do you want to
Beyonce I think Rock Bottom for this team is when they don’t make the playoffs in
my eyes and if Hal really you know Hal needs a wake-up call in my eyes he’s too
nose blind to this team I think he’s all happy he’s not a fan he’s like Steve Collins like a business he treats you
like a business like it’s his Pro like he’s just a flopping your piece of but anyways I have to include that a
tattoo reference but anyways Steve Cohen’s a fan he’s gonna do whatever it takes for him
to have a winning product out there for the fans not even just for his own business and
listen I will say this um continuing with the Giants thing before we talk a little bit more about how is that John
Mayer was meddling he wanted Eli back uh another year because he felt that the
past regimes have failed him even though Eli was over the hill he was past his prime he couldn’t do much of anything anymore that’s showing you that yes he
made bad decisions and he metal but that shows you he cares about his team because of what his family has done you
know let’s not forget everybody steinbrenner’s bought the Yankees and
what was it 1973 yes the maras have owned the Giants since 1925. so it’s not
like they just they just bought in this note he wants to make his grandfather proud he wants to make his father proud because he passed away a few years ago
well it was 2005 for more than a few years ago but anyway regardless of the point so he finally with attendance as
low as possible with people making a joke of the Giants with people in the organization just not being being there
he stepped back he fired everybody at least the you know the general manager left fired the head coach
they went their separate ways and then he got two guys that right now if you’re a Giants fan they know what they’re
doing and then they exactly he cleans house he took it upon himself to tell
Joe Shane who’s the general manager of the New York Giants now um he said look do what you want and he
fired pretty much almost the entire front office which was a problem now you’re getting guys from who are more
analytically Advanced from Buffalo from the Eagles from different teams that’s
what the Yankees need to do but Hal does not want to step in that situation he
wants to treat it like a cash cow and that’s a problem you know I will go to Yankee games next year I’m not going to
say that I won’t because I will um I’m just not going to be spending as much money as I did this past year I
went to like eight different Yankee games this year which is the most see the thing is you know Hal doesn’t want to be like his dad we understand that
but Hal just doesn’t have the winning Drive George made band moves we’re all we’re all under that you know we know
like John Mara and not they were two different guys but just like John Mara something drove him there was a drive in
him a fan in him saying I want this team to be good whether his decisions worked out or not
exactly so Hal Steinbrenner just doesn’t have that drive in my opinion if he doesn’t have that drive sell the team
sell it to your sibling was it Jennifer Jennifer’s sister right Jennifer Swindle
is the sister now let me ask you a question was there a rumor a few years ago before he passed away that
how basically wanted Hank out of everything regarding the Yankees see I would be surprised because Hank was more
like his dad how’s more like I don’t want to be like my dad he’s like the antithesis of George
so and here here you go here’s what everything here’s what uh so how I’ve
obviously said that Boone’s a very good magic you have that and how here’s here you go how we didn’t get the job done
it’s time to get it done anytime we don’t win a championship’s disappointing year we had a lot of good UPS we had
some downs we had some injuries like everyone else he also said this but you got to give it
to the Astros they’re a very good team top to bottom we didn’t bring our a game
if so changes need to happen then it’s just very clear he doesn’t have the
balls to fire to have Aaron Boone fired he doesn’t have the ball he doesn’t have the balls he doesn’t have the stomach he
doesn’t have the drive we don’t have the drive you know it’s kind of like content creating in a sense if you feel that
something’s a chore then what’s the point of doing it Al Steinbrenner could could possibly live off of listen to
anything else that’s concerned with Yankee Enterprises and I don’t call things I don’t call how cheap whatsoever
no he’s maybe maybe remember when we were going through all the uh all the negotiation stuff with the MLB and the
mlbpa and Hal voted for certain things like the uh tax revenue like the tax penalties to be lower and all this
different stuff that’s what he’s cheap on what he’s not cheap on is what he gives Brian Cashman the money Brian
Cashman does not use the money in the right way Brian Cashman has had halstein
burners spend about three million dollars not three million three billion that is literally like saying and you
could find this funny whatever it’s like literally my grandmother telling me listen I need this this and this the
grocery store and she gives me a hundred dollars right instead I go
I don’t know let’s let’s make a point I go to the strip club get it all singles and then and then you know
if she’s house Steinbrenner she don’t ask about it she if she isn’t High well I mean I
don’t know if I jumbled my words there if she is house sign burner she don’t ask if she is in Palestine burner she’ll
be like where the my money go so the process the point is is that he doesn’t check in on what’s being
spent because guess what he’s getting that back anyway like the thing is like you brought up John Mayer James Dolan
was very overbearing and he stepped back he’s let the you know basketball people hand he’ll handle his basketball
decisions but he does have a drive inside him I don’t think he’s a cheap guy he wants his product to work
yeah so I agree Hal just doesn’t have that drug we keep complain about matter
and Dole whatever you want they have driving them yeah he might be one of the worst owners in New York right now like
New York I’m not going to consider too much hockey because I don’t know too much about you know the Islanders owner
I know Dolan owns the Rangers um you know I don’t know about the Johnsons like I guess they have a drive
they’re Jersey people um calling obviously I don’t like talking about the Johnsons well okay so
listen my team is five and two but that’s regardless I just yeah anyway it just doesn’t have a drive
um you want to finish up on the great big bad New York media that’s no longer
I mean the wussies yeah so let’s let’s let me just say this I forgot to mention
this okay Mariano Rivera says if he was the owner for the Yankees that Brian Aaron Boone would be fired recorded
though let me let me bring something up about how how house time runner you wanna talk about Judge you want to talk about this any other thing
the fact that a he’s allowed Brian Cashman to
mistreat his main source of money on the team which is Aaron judge it is a sin
and that fact that he’s done this to Bernie Williams which I believe he’s a victim because back in 2000 and
something when they were trying to extend like to do some bad negotiations uh Derek Jeter Derek Jeter Mariano
Rivera probably doesn’t like Cashman but then again I don’t know that for sure there’s just so much Legends best
friends with Derek Jeter yeah and he probably does not like Brian Cashman so
what does that lead to you know um A-Rod probably doesn’t like Brian Cashman no are you kidding
despite it A-Rod and put Joey Gallo as number 13.
but they could Yankee boys could also use the defense that aerod actually tried to sue the team and all these
different things but everyone not that he’s an agenda against the Yankees he speaks out for the Yankees speaks out
against the Yankees he tells the honest truth and a lot of fans hate him for it for some reason but it’s like he never
was like in like you ever see an old uh an Old-Timers Day with him included no
never the one thing I’ll give credit to the Knicks for they treat their alignment
alumni very well like the Patrick Ewing’s the like obviously Anthony Mason
rest in peace like all those guys Alan Houston John Starks they TR Dolan
streets them well he takes care of them Bernard King do you see that with the Yankees do you
ever hear reports of Brian Cashman taking care of Derek Jeter you know Brian Cashman hates Derek Jeter yeah he
holds grudges that’s what he does why do you think he had John Heyman write that piece of article about why Derek
Jeter shouldn’t be A different general manager no I mean because because Jeter likes
only praise and Brian Cashman handles criticism he doesn’t take criticism and that was another point
about Cashman he doesn’t take he doesn’t take criticism at all all he does is spin out of it he gets
the media to cover his ass the Yankees once again quoting somebody are a political optic organization now we
could translate into that our last uh pyramid well they’re not really a pyramid in a level in the Pyramid of
shame but you could say they’re a part of the problem is the fact that nobody asks the questions and I’ll bring up
something here I’ve disagree with a lot of different people about this I’ve disagreed with Donald Stewart our
co-host of boys and big apple and I’ve also disagreed with Pete because it’s a couple of different things a people were
talking about Michael K and how he was basically shouting out our vision now
there’s obviously some things I have some problems with with that statement because it’s a matter of disagreeance
Donald’s like because if any of you don’t know Michael K basically recanted
all of what he said and said is on the player he took three steps back he also said how is a great owner which is a
complete load of exactly so obviously someone uh upstairs said Michael K you better cut your crap out
um and I made a load of points on the live stream and let me just also say like you know what I’ll talk about when
we get to the whole Andy Martino yeah I mean but the whole Michael K thing is
I I originally when he came out with all of his statements ripping the Yankees I wasn’t a fan I was but I wasn’t a fan of
it because I knew that there was definitely a limit there that there was definitely a limit
um you know he was talking about the carpenter thing okay and all these different other things the 04 stuff but
he wasn’t talking about Boone should be fired and Cashman should be fired what if and now Donald was saying well he’s
not really in that position to call for anybody’s job why are the beat reporters and why are some of these B reporters
like Steve Politti and O’Connor why are they in a position you know Connor I think yeah Ian O’Connor and Steve pulley
why are they in a position to call out for you know Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone’s job the band should also be
because you know what if Michael K wants to be a voice for the fans he needs to say the right without being
censored hey and I know that’s hard it’s easier said than done but he also needs to say listen the beat media should be
asking tough questions but because of his friendship with the beat media he doesn’t do he doesn’t suggest that so
that’s why I didn’t like what he said he didn’t say that Brian Cashman or Aaron Burris could fire he said changes need
to happen obviously we know in our mind what changes need to happen but it’s all
about the principle the point of actually saying it absolutely 100 right Michael K will
never listen at like Yankee fans will lie him rely on him to be the voice but like I’m not you know exploring smoke of
anybody’s ass we’re here we’re uncensored we don’t have ties down but we’re gonna tell you the truth we’re going to tell you how how what the truth
is we’re going to tell you how that’s the problem with uh one of the issues I should say maybe it’s a different thing the more you’re saying that I want to
bring up but this is what’s going to happen it’s all a cycle as you see a cat trying to get my attention here anyway
it’s all a cycle because he will say he will say what he said he will rip the Yankees then he will go back to his
Yankee boy company himself and then people are going to wonder where that
criticism went and it’s it’s weird because once again we’ve been calling out here on my news TV pinstripe
Chronicles and then also as well our Channel big move in the Bronx we’ve been calling out what the Yankees have been
doing wrong for the past few months whether they’re losing they’re winning they’re doing whatever we’ve been
calling it out Michael K has it Mike Michael K is not a person for the fans I’m just gonna say it right now he may
be a Yankee fan this any other thing but if you really wanted to stand out he could have just said listen Brian
Cashman is past his prime he could just say somebody should be on the hot seat that’s it if he doesn’t even go that far
you can literally say that but and yes I know it’s easier said than done but throwing at me well you know he he wants
to be the Yankees broadcast he wants to be he’s he’s growing up in the Bronx he’s a Yankee fan that’s his dream job
dude if you want to be a voice for the fans you know first of all he knows he’s
spinning this he knows what he’s doing in a way but if he really like it look it’s it’s complicated
obviously because she works for Yes Network the Yankee the Yankees entertaining sports tonight they want to
create their own spin they want to do all these different things but if he really wants to be that voice for the
fans he’s not he’s not a voice for the fans and that’s why we want to be that voice in the fans and even like I’ll say
this people think it’s a start of something that’s the the start is the limit
because if you think oh he’s the start of Michael K and the revolution against the Yankees and their incompetency
that’s the limit unfortunately because he’s not going to go any further than that and he’s gonna back it up but what
we need to do is pot and once again I cut off a disagreement that we were having a debate that we were having
because we wanted to focus on Boone and Cashman not Michael K I said look to cut this argument off that’s why podcasts
are growing this is why NY news TV and our channel is growing these are why alternate sites and Alternate you know
blogs are growing because they don’t want to be censored they want to say what their actual opinion is and I’ve
been saying it for the longest time even Denmark ripped me on Twitter I don’t give a if you have a show you need
to give your real opinion if you were censored or something like that there’s no point in having a show there’s no
point in having your voice on air 100 I mean why have a radio show why
even the ESPN show and what I was going to get into well you want me to bring up the Andy Martino article very slightly
so I’m gonna give up a small bit everybody saw the headlines from anymore to know that a report came out that the
ant there are the a lot of Yankee players were kind of in not in awe but very angry at the fans
for booing Aaron judge and be harassed and you know all these different things being mistreated during the playoffs
disrespective whatever how do you feel about that report Alice
first of all I think half of it is spin that’s a I think half of it has been because it’s now our fault that we’re
expecting a championship remember if you guys if you want to read the article go ahead if you don’t want to read the
article I’ll just tell you right now Martino Blaine George Steinbrenner and Derek Jeter’s kind of Mantra that a
championship or bust he said that’s the Fan’s fault for adopting it this dang he’s like oh the
Yankees fans are setting in possible standards they are the players feel like
they’re going to ruin the brand if they don’t live up to that standard that’s the problem that’s Martino is spinning
this to prevent any prevent and then he mentioned then he goes on to mention you
know oh you know the fields perspective of Boon and cashman’s way different from
the fans perspective of course it is of course it is because everybody likes each other within that like if you’re if
you’re gonna like the twins GM is probably gonna have a great perspective of Brian Cashman just for the case that
he robbed Brian Cashman some of these other teams have robbed Brian Cashman in the past some of these teams have beaten
Aaron Boone in the past so obviously people are going to say Oh Aaron Boone’s a competitor meanwhile They’re laughing
at him truly on the inside so just to cut off the thing about the Martino subject and whatever in the spin in the
media is the tough questions aren’t asked we’re not going anywhere in terms of that
um I love to get a press pass I I personally don’t think
to cut it off and we’ll go into final thoughts I’m going to let you go in your final thoughts in a second but I think
this is all up to the fans they have to somewhat first of all it’s up to these content creators to grow the true
content Crews not the company boys but it’s up to the content clears to start putting pressure a lot more pressure by
going to events doing this doing that going out and getting the older Generations go into podcasting because
then they’ll listen to us get the same message and get it out and then but let me say this as well it’s up to
them also to cut back on how many games they go to I’m not telling anybody how to fan but put less money in house
pockets that’s how change happens but Luca final thoughts yeah unfortunately like there’s fans out there who believe
the and they still buy the chicken buckets and all that like I’m gonna ask real quick before I get to my final thoughts didn’t the Giants fans
put pressure on John Mayer to fire Joe judge yeah they did there you go that’s why we have platform
uh my final thoughts um last time I’ll be wearing this jersey for a while I’m embarrassed to be a Yankee fan I’m not
embarrassed however to be a content creator friend why would news TV you know speaking on my platform
I’m hoping our platform changes how the Yankees do their thing
because the way they’re going right now they’re never winning the World Series under this tandem no I agree like comment subscribe turn
on post notifications so you know when a live stream pops or video drops I know I say that for my channel but save for my news TV as well become a member five
stars on Apple podcast everybody uh great doing the show hopefully next week
will be live but then again I don’t know if Pete’s gonna be doing the World Series or not peace out guys see you later stay cool
