The Yankees are swept in Mexico by the Diablos Rojos

The New York Yankees closed their exhibition game in Mexico with two losses against the Diablos Rojos de Mexico in Mexico City.

Since the Aztec team surprised the Bronx Bombers with their great offense and accurate shots, but the New York team  was not going to give up and was going to show all its power or part of its offensive power, so as not to be shutout in the two games.

Something that was alarming for the Mules was what happened to pitcher Oscar Gonzalez received a ball in the face after a foul ball, so he had to enter medical attention to remove the player.

Recall that same day the Yankees with the other players on the roster, beat the Pirates 1-0 and the Mets 3-0.

The two matches against the Red Devils were thus 3-4 and 5-8 in favor of the Aztecs.

Despite those two painful losses at the end of Spring Training with the season starting on Thursday in mind, there were good things.

Since our Aztec pitcher Victor Gonzalez was able to pitch with the Yanks, with the support of his family in the stadium, something that he commented felt very different and something very special for him, because since he went to the Major Leagues, his relatives had not been able to see him live pitching in the striped uniform.

“There’s a lot of emotion you feel in that moment. You don’t know what to do. The level of enthusiasm is very high, the amount of pressure you feel. You want to put on a good show,” Gonzalez said.

“I’ve pitched in the big leagues for some time and I’ve never had this feeling. The emotions I had on Sunday on the mound were completely different,” explained the Mexican left-hander upon being able to pitch in his native country in a Yankees uniform and his family present.
