WATCH: Red Sox fan hits Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton with ball

A Red Sox fan threw back Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton’s home run ball — and hit him with it — on Saturday.

BOSTON — Really?

Red Sox fan threw back Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton‘s home run ball — and hit him with it — on Saturday afternoon at Fenway Park.

It’s not unusual for a fan to throw a ball back onto the field.

What’s weird is to hit someone with it.

The fan’s throw one-hopped Stanton as he rounded second base.

The fan grabbed the ball after it went over the Green Monster, reached back and threw it as hard as he could. He did it without looking, replay showed.

After it hit Stanton in the upper arm, he looked toward the crowd confused. Third base coach Phil Nevin stopped the game for a moment to point to where the ball came from for umpires.

The fan was undoubtedly escorted out — and maybe one of the security guards bought him a beer.
