OAKLAND — Watch Yankees manager Aaron Boone praise the “swagger” and “antics” of new first baseman Luke Voit after Voit played hero in a 5-1 win over the Athletics on Tuesday night.

Voit’s eighth-inning solo shot broke a 1-all tie and gave the Yankees the lead for good in a game against the team they’re trying to hold off in the race for the American League Wild Card top spot.

CC and Amber Sabathia with their foundation, PitCCh In, will host a backpack giveaway, pep rally and career panel at the All-Star pitcher’s alma mater, Vallejo High School in Vallejo, Calif., on Thursday, September 6.

“It always feels good to come home to Vallejo, but for Amber and I to give back to the high school that gave us so much is really special,” said Sabathia.
The pep rally will include a DJ, free backpacks filled with school supplies to all 1,700 students and a career panel discussion. Panelists include CC and Amber Sabathia, E-40, Hip Hop Artist & Entrepreneur, Mistah F.A.B, Hip & Hop Artist and Producer, Fran Boller, Senior Vice President of Haddad Brands and Nor Jemjemian, Senior Vice President/Area Manager for Kaiser Permanente in the greater Napa-Solano area.

“CC and Amber Sabathia, along with the PitCCh In Foundation, have demonstrated their commitment to Vallejo High School be ensuring that all students have the supplies they need to be successful. As Principal of Vallejo High, I am proud to accept these wonderful donations of backpacks and supplies on behalf of our students. This day will be a day the students will never forget,” said Dr. Sheila Quintana, Principal of Vallejo High School.

The Vallejo High School pep rally, career panel and backpack giveaway are made possible by Haddad Brands, Kaiser Permanente and Vallejo City Unified School District.

The PitCCh In Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded by New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and his wife Amber. The foundation’s mission is to enrich the lives of inner city youth by raising their self-esteem through educational and athletic activities in the New York Tri-State area and Northern California.
