Plenty of palace intrigue Tuesday at Yankee Stadium as manager Aaron Boone named Luis Severino his starting pitcher for the American League Wild Card Game on Wednesday against the Oakland A’s.

No such drama about who will be the Yankeesstarting third baseman: rookie Miguel Andujar.

There’s no doubting Andujar’s bat. He hit a team-best .297 with 27 home runs and 92 RBI in the regular season.

However when it comes to fielding, Andujar is much less of a sure thing, commiting 15 errors this season

So Andujar spent part of the AL Wild Card workout day taking grounders at third base, which you can see at the top of this story.

Yankees Wild Card Game roster

Andujar will compete with Yankees second basemen Gleyber Torres and Los Angeles Angels DH/pitcher Shohei Ohtani for the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year Award.

Torres hit .271 with 24 home runs and 77 RBI, making the American League roster for the 2018 MLB All-Star Game.

Ohtani had Tommy John surgery this week. He started 10 games, going 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA before suffering an elbow injury.

As a hitter, Ohtani batted .285 with 22 home runs and 61 RBI.

The Yankees are hoping to have the AL Rookie of the Year for the second straight year.

Aaron Judge ran away with the award in 2017, while finishing second in American League MVP voting to Astros second baseman Jose Altuve.

Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez finished second to Detroit Tigers right-hander Michael Fulmer in the AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2016.
