NEW YORK — Watch Yankees manager Aaron Boone answer whether he believes his team is too reliant on home runs after a 2-0 loss to the Mets at Citi Field on Sunday night.

Here’s Boone’s full quote, if you’d rather read:

“No. The one thing we do is, we have guys up and down that can slug and get that hit and certainly you know you’re going to play some low-scoring games against elite teams and when it matters. But I would say more often than not, we get into the — you’ve got to be able to manufacture and you’ve got to be able to do the small things when, even when you get into playoff scenarios, that’s usually not what happens. Even with I feel like some of the narratives when the Royals were winning or the Giants, still go back and a lot of those games, guys get on base and they put it in the seats, a big swing. Even in the low-scoring ones. No, we’re built and we’ve shown, I think time and time again early this year, against elite pitching and really good teams that our ability to grind you down, more often than not, eventually we can take advantage of a mistake. No, I don’t worry about that. I think our depth and our length of lineup give us a really good chance in the toughest of games.”

It was the Yankees’ first shutout of the season and the first time they didn’t score a run in a game since Aug. 10, 2017 in a 4-zip loss to Toronto.
