ARLINGTON, Texas — Wow was that brutal!

The Yankees hit four more homers on Wednesday night in building 4-0 and 10-5 leads … and they lost.

This 12-10 setback to the Texas Rangers was the Yankees’ worst of the season, by far. And this made it two losses in a row and a series loss to a last-place ballclub following a ridiculous 22-4 run that we may see again for many years.

Amazingly, the Yankees headed home 1 1/2 games out of first place.

How is that even possible?

Well, the first-place Red Sox are pretty darned good, too.

This sure had the makings of a good summer race for first in the AL East.

Meantime, the Yankees’ visit this week to Texas did serve as a reminder that they can lose ballgames even when they’re hitting a bunch of homers, and 31 over five games ties for the biggest five-game bunch in big-league history.

Watch the video above to see what Yankees beat writer Randy Miller thinks we learned this week about the Yankees.

PROSPECT SPOTLIGHT
Tyler Nunez, a C from Lake Nona HS, is a 6'2 190lb athletic catcher who provides strength with the bat and glove. During BP, Tyler stuck with a middle of the field approach while staying on a line. He impacted the ball well with his compact and direct path, T90EV. He showed off his real athleticism behind the plate by posting a 2.04 pop time while staying around the bag on every throw. He is a good looking athletic uncommitted catcher to keep an eye on.
