WATCH: Yankees’ Aaron Judge honors Ronald Torreyes after home run

The Yankees clearly miss Ronald Torreyes. Aaron Judge gave an air high-five to the demoted utility man after a home run in Friday’s win over the Orioles.

BALTIMORE — All together now:

Awwwwwwwwwwww.

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge honored demoted teammate Ronald Torreyes with an air high-five after a home run in a 4-1 win over the Orioles at Camden Yards on Friday night.

After Judge ripped a solo shot in the seventh inning for his 16th blast of the year, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout.

He celebrated with them. When he got to the end of the line, the 6-foot-8 Judge hopped and reached out his hand. The move was meant to mimic the high-fives he’d give the 5-foot-7 Torreyes, who would typically be held in the air by shortstop Didi Gregorius.

The Yankees demoted Torreyes to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last week. Torreyes had become a beloved member of the clubhouse and a solid utility player since 2016.

The Yankees took the news of Torreyes’ demotion May 26 “rough,” manager Aaron Boone said at the time.

Here’s what Boone said about the mood following the Venezuela native’s demotion:

“The news, you could feel it in our clubhouse (Friday) night, it was rough,” Boone said.

“It was a difficult night, which was simply a tribute to what Ronald Torreyes is and what he means to our team and our clubhouse and frankly the way he’s performed in his years here. But I haven’t had that conversation with that group as a whole but it was — you could feel it in our room late (Friday) night.”

Torreyes has hit .167 (3-for-18) with a walk, two strikeouts, no home runs or RBI in four games since getting sent down.
