NEW YORK — Don’t call it a comeback.

Because it isn’t one.

Yes, Yankees legend Andy Petttitte threw batting practice before his old team faced the Rays at Yankee Stadium on Friday.

But that’s all it was. Pettitte, who also turned 46 years old Friday, was in the city for Sunday’s Old-Timer’s Day — his first.

Pettitte was a Yankees’ Core Four member. Pettitte, Derek JeterJorge Posada and Mariano Rivera each were with the Yankees for their World Series wins in 1996, 1998, 1998, 2000 and 2009.

Cashman: I’m not trading Gleyber Torres

Read more about Friday’s game below, via Yankees’ PR:

THE GLEY-HEY KID: 2B Gleyber Torres hit a go-ahead three-run HR in Thursday’s win vs. Tampa Bay…since making his MLB debut on 4/22, leads Major League rookies with 13HR and 33RBI and ranks third with a .295 (46-for-156) BA.

  •  Leads all Major League hitters with five three-run homers…five of his 13 career HRs are three-run shots…all other Yankees hitters have combined for just eight three-run HRs in 2018 (also two grand slams).
  •  Hit his 13th HR in his 45th career game, tied for seventh-most in AL history through a player’s first 45 career games…are the third-most by a Yankee through 45 games (Gary Sanchez-19 and Kevin Maas-15).
  •  Each of his 13HR have come in his last 33 games since 5/4, tied for the second-most HR in the Majors in that span (J.D. Martinez-16; Khris Davis-13).
  •  His 13HR as a second basemen rank second in the Majors to Atlanta’s Ozzie Albies (16)…his .951 OPS as a second baseman is tops in the Majors…his 33RBI at 2B are tied for sixth, tied for second in the AL to Oakland’s Jed Lowrie (41).

SANTO DOMINGO: RHP Domingo German (6.0IP, 5H, 3ER, 2BB, 10K, 1HR, 1WP) earned his first career win on Thurs. vs. Tampa Bay…set a career high with 10K.

  •  Was the first double-digit-strikeout game by a Yankee other than Luis Severino (four) this season…marked his second straight start with at least 9K (has at least 9K in 3-of-7 career starts)…has a 10.38 K/9.0IP ratio (45K/39.0IP) in seven career starts (all this season).
  •  Recorded 26 swinging strikes, only the sixth Major League pitcher to reach that mark in a game this season (see chart)…are seven more than the next-highest total by a Yankee this season (19 by German, Severino, Tanaka)…is tied for the second-most swinging strikes in a single game by any Yankee since the start of 2016 (Tanaka: 27 on 9/14/17 vs. Baltimore, 26 on 5/26/17 vs. Oakland).
