NEW YORK — The Mets need some kind of a spark. Something. Anything.

Todd Frazier hopes it comes from whooping on the Yankees, his former team, this weekend.

“I played with both teams now and I know how exciting it can be for both sides,” Frazier said before Friday’s Subway Series game at Citi Field on Friday. “Hopefully it kind of renews us here and we get that excitement back and the crowd brings it.”

The Mets have lost their last six games. They started the day 27-32 — 7 1/2 games back of the first-place Nationals and in fourth place in the National League East.

Why Hicks got benched

The Yankees (40-18) have won their last two games and are 1/2-game ahead of the Red Sox in the American League East.

And things weren’t exactly looking up for the Mets.

Earlier Friday, they put closer Jeurys Familia on the disabled list with a sore shoulder.

They also pushed Noah Syndergaard from his scheduled start Sunday due to a strained finger ligament.

The offense has been a mess. It started the day with a .233 team batting average, or 24th best in the league. Its 231 runs was tied for third-least in baseball.

Frazier hasn’t been what the Mets had hoped, either, hitting .230 with five homers, 21 RBI and a .738 OPS.  He has one hit in his last 19 at-bats.

Frazier, who said he hasn’t kept in close contact with his old teammates, was pumped about facing the Yankees.

The Yankees and Frazier talked about an offseason reunion but the Toms River native couldn’t pass up the $17-million, two-year offer the Mets made him.

“It’s going to be awesome,” he said. “We’re playing at home. What could be better at that? The fans are going to be lit out there. They’re going to be excited. Can’t wait to be out there — during BP, the excitement and that stuff. See the crowd coming in will only make it that much.
