NEW YORK — It’s possible Aroldis Chapman could be on the mound for the Yankees as soon as their next game.

Manager Aaron Boone said it was likely the Yankees would activate their flame-throwing lefty from the disabled list either Wednesday or Thursday.

“I would say there is potential for (Wednesday),” Boone told reporters before a 3-2 win over the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.

Yankees won’t rule out playoff role for Sheffield

Chapman threw in a simulated game at Yankee Stadium on Monday, facing backups Tyler Wade and Kyle Higashioka.

The Yankees said it went without incident and on Tuesday, via the team’s Spanish-language translator, Chapman said left knee, which has tendinitis, has been feeling better.

Zach Britton closed in place of Chapman on Wednesday. Dellin Betances has also seen work in the role.

Chapman has 31 saves in 33 tries and a 2.11 ERA.

He’s been resting since he went on the DL about three weeks ago and he also received platelet-rich plasma treatments.

“They haven’t told me specifically what date. I expect in the next couple of days, hopefully,” Chapman said.

He added that he feels “really good.”

“The rehab I have done and the work has helped me a lot,” Chapman said.

Could Chapman whip himself into postseason shape with just 12 games left?

“There is not a lot of time,” Chapman said. “The arm feels great, the knee feels great. It’s about going in there and battling right now and get the job done.”
