Who is Chris Gittens He’s a Yankees Slugger Who Could and Most Likely Will Make His Debut THIS YEAR!

Chris Gittens is the Yankees 6’4″ 250 pound, 2014 12th round selection. He’s currently the 1B at AAA SWB. He is a flat out slugger!!!

He leads the Yankees Yankees system in exit velocity. He can flat out slug the ball!

Last year at AA Trenton he batted .281 with 23 HR’s and 77 RBI’s in just 115 games and 398 AB’s. Easily projects out to .283 BA 32 HR’s, and 110 RBI’s over a 150+ game, 550+ AB season. In the most UN HR friendly league in the world. He has all kinds of power while being a very good average hitter.

The best player comparison is to Miguel Sano of the Twins but Gittens has the far better average bat. He’s like Miguel Andujar but taller and with far, FAR more power…

How does he fit in the Yankees lineup this year? A great question! He can play 1B, 3B, and DH. Maybe even the OF but his 6’4″ 250 pound frame makes his foot speed on the slower end. As showed by his 7 stolen bases in 13 attempts in 5 pro seasons.

All defensive stats LOVE him! He’s a way above average defender at 1B. He’s about average at 3B and slightly above average in the OF.

If he makes it the lineup in 2 years could be stacked with him grown talent and look like this:

  2. RF Aaron Judge
  3. SS Gleyber Torres
  4. DH Mike Ford
  5. LF Giancarlo Stanton
  6. C Gary Sanchez
  7. CF Jason Dominguez
  8. 1B Chris Gittens
  9. 3B Miguel Andujar

This would leave Voit, Gio, Hicks and Higgy on the bench. HOLY CRAP WHAT A LOADED ROSTER!!!! Of course Hicks could be traded and Tauchman be the bench infielder. That’s 7 starters who are home gown and incredibly dangerous at the plate.

The other thought is does he make him self a very desirable trade piece this year? He could… The Indians and Rockies need 1B. The Cubs would love to swap Rizzo for a cost controlled 1B like Gittens. I would guess Voit would get traded 1st not Gittens.

Any way you cook it the Yankees have more baby bombers on the way! All Yankees fans should be excited as they are up top the Al East to stay for the next decade plus!

Tyler Nunez, a C from Lake Nona HS, is a 6'2 190lb athletic catcher who provides strength with the bat and glove. During BP, Tyler stuck with a middle of the field approach while staying on a line. He impacted the ball well with his compact and direct path, T90EV. He showed off his real athleticism behind the plate by posting a 2.04 pop time while staying around the bag on every throw. He is a good looking athletic uncommitted catcher to keep an eye on.
