World Series 2018: Boston Red Sox celebrate title by trolling Yankees … again (VIDEO)

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1, on Sunday, October 28, 2018 (10/28/18) at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. to win the 2018 World Series in five games. Left-hander David Price picked up his second World Series win and Steve Pearce hit two home runs to earn World Series MVP honors.

The Boston Red Sox celebrated their World Series title on Sunday by having fun at the expense of the New York Yankees.

Following their Game 5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Red Sox let loose in the clubhouse. The music selected to accompany the champagne shower? Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.”

You may remember that after the Yankees won Game 2 of the American League Division Series, Aaron Judge blasted the Sinatra classic while leaving Fenway Park.

At the time, manager Aaron Boone defended Judge’s music selection.

“It’s a good song. And Aaron, he’s one of our resident DJs, so he’s got a pretty extensive playlist. I guess that’s the one that was going. We like to hear that song sometimes when we win a big game.

“I saw it. I think it’s fun. It’s something to talk about. But I think it’s just a good-natured whatever.”

Red Sox manager Alex Cora shrugged off the incident when asked if Judge was taking a dig at Boston.

“I don’t know,” he said. “You’ve got to ask him if it was something for us, but I doubt it. He’s a guy that, when he hits the ball out of the ballpark, he sits down and runs. That’s probably just something they do when they win. Probably they did it somewhere else too.”

However, after the Red Sox eliminated the Yankees from the ALDS in four games, Boston flipped the script while celebrating in their clubhouse at Yankee Stadium:

The Red Sox would go on to beat the Houston Astros in five games in the American League Championship Series, before finishing their historic run in the World Series.

Boston led the majors with 108 regular-season wins and added 11 more in the playoffs to become the first team to win four World Series titles in the 21st century.

But Yankees fans can take solace in knowing the Red Sox’s ninth World Series title in franchise history pales in comparison to the Yankees’ 27 championships.
