Yankees-Blue Jays weather forecast: Will rain delay Friday’s game? (UPDATED)

Rain was threatening a game between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018.

The latest from the National Weather Service:

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 9pm and 1am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 75. South wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

NEW YORK — The forecast wasn’t good.

But an hour before first pitch, the sky wasn’t too threatening.

Rain was threatening a game between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018. 

Here’s the forecast, courtesy of the National Weather Service, which issued a hazardous weather outlook for the area:

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. South wind around 15 mph.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 9pm and 1am. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 75. South wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

EARNING THEIR PINSTRIPES: The Yankees have won all five starts by LHP J.A. Happ and RHP Lance Lynn, with the two starting pitchers acquired by the Yankees in July combining to go 4-0 with a 1.44 ERA (31.1IP, 5ER) in those outings.

SCHEMIN’ MARCUS: Since the start of 2016, the Yankees are 5-0 vs. Marcus Stroman at Yankee Stadium and 0-5 against him at Rogers Centre.
