Bronx, N.Y. — The New York Yankees kept their late season surge rolling on Saturday, hammering three early home runs and riding a dominant start from rookie Cam Schlittler to a 6 to 1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium. The win is New York’s seventh straight and tenth in eleven. The Yankees are tied with Toronto atop the AL East and are assured of at least a Wild Card berth. Toronto holds the tiebreaker.
Aaron Judge launched his 53rd home run of the season in the first inning, his Major League record 20th first inning homer this year. It was also his 51st career homer against the Orioles. New York’s lineup continues to set the tone early with its 49th first inning homer of the season, two better than the previous single season record set by Atlanta in 2023.
Giancarlo Stanton crushed his 24th of the season leading off the second. Ryan McMahon followed later in the frame with his 20th to center for a three run cushion. Stanton’s blast was the 453rd of his career, moving him past Carl Yastrzemski into sole possession of fortieth on the all time list. Judge and Stanton have now homered in the same game 59 times, and the Yankees are 52 and 7 in those games.
Schlittler delivered the best start of his young career: 7 scoreless innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, and a career high 9 strikeouts. The twenty four year old right hander improved to 4 and 3 and completed his first big league regular season with a 2.96 ERA over fourteen starts.
There is a humility to him. He does not think he has it all figured out, but he has confidence with real competitiveness. That is a strong combination.
New York put the game out of reach with a three run fifth. Ryan McMahon singled, Trent Grisham walked, and Austin Wells worked a free pass to load the bases. Judge lined a two run single to center and Cody Bellinger added a sacrifice fly for a 6 to 0 lead.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. exited after being hit on the left arm by a ninety six point eight mile per hour fastball from Grant Wolfram in the fifth. X rays were negative and the club said he will undergo a CT scan.

Boone was ejected for arguing called strikes to Judge in the fifth. It was his seventh ejection of the season and the forty sixth of his managerial career.
Coby Mayo connected for Baltimore’s lone run with a solo homer in the eighth off Paul Blackburn. That was the only blemish after Schlittler’s seven scoreless frames.
