Yankees’ Aaron Boone ejected, flips out on umps

Yankees manager Aaron Boone was thrown out of Saturday’s game against the Indians at Progressive Field.

CLEVELAND — Yankees manager Aaron Boone was probably happy about that one.

Boone flipped out on umpires after he was was ejected in the sixth inning of a game against the Indians at Progressive Field on Saturday.

Boone argued with umpires during an odd happening in Giancarlo Stanton‘s at-bat.

He stayed on the field to argue and got thrown out. After getting thrown out, Boone yelled at the first base umpire, walked to the home plate umpire, and then yelled in his face, too.

It was Boone’s second career ejection. He took over as Yankees manager in the offseason. Boone was also thrown out April 22 in Texas. 

It was unclear what Boone was arguing.

Stanton swung at an 0-2 fastball, which appeared to hit him in the knuckles.

Umpires called Stanton out via strikeout. That’s when Boone went ballistic. It might have been that Boone was arguing that Stanton shouldn’t have been struck out, though typically when a player gets hit with a pitch while swinging, it’s called a strike.

The Yankees were winning 3-2 at the time. A couple at-bats after Boone was thrown out, first baseman Greg Bird ripped a home run to right field to put the Yankees ahead, 4-2.

•  With RISP since 6/26, is hitting .600/.667/1.300 (6-for-10) with 1 double, 2HR, 13RBI, 2SF and 6BB… has RBI in five of his last 6PA with RISP (the other was a walk).
