BALTIMORE — One of the first things that Yankees manager Aaron Boone often does when getting to the ballpark is check up on injured players.

He likes to spend a few minutes talking to them, and if possible, watch them do whatever pre-game rehabbing they’re doing … such as hit, throw, ride a stationary bike, etc.

Boone did his due diligence again Monday before his club’s doubleheader at Oriole Park against the Baltimore Orioles.

Here’s the latest on three Yankees stars who are batting injuries plus an update on a rookie pitcher who now is back in Triple-A after faring well in three starts last month after double-jumping to the big leagues.

Aroldis Chapman, LHP

Injury: Left knee inflammation.

Status: On Yankees’ 25-man roster and available to pitch Monday after leaving Saturday’s game after facing one batter and being rested on Sunday.

Why Chapman isn’t on the DL: “We have not yet talked about that,” Boone said. “It’s something that I’m sure that we’ll always kick around, but we’ll lean on him (for input) as well. Feeling that I’ve kind of been through something similar, it’s something that’s kind of a pain thing that grabs you some point, but from a structural standpoint how it impacts what you’re doing, we obviously haven’t seen it affect him and I don’t think it’s really affecting him. So it’s something that we’re obviously constantly talking with him about, communicating with treating and maintaining. … I don’t want to speculate too much on it, but it may be something where 10 days or a couple weeks (on the DL) probably don’t even heed the trick. This is something that maybe you address in the offseason, and I’m probably speculating too much on that. If it’s what I’ve dealt with similarly, it’s just dealing with some pain things when you have certain movements.”

Gleyber Torres, 2B

Injury: Right hip strain.

Status: Placed on 10-day disabled list July 4 (effective July 5). Eligible to be activated during All-Star break.

Latest: Torres hasn’t been cleared yet to resume any baseball activities because he’s still feeling a little discomfort in his hip. “When we were deciding to put Gleyber on the disabled list, it was a decision,” Boone said. “It was, ‘Is this going to be a four-or-five day thing? Is this going to be a week? Two weeks?’ We don’t know. We’re kind of evaluating him as we go and we haven’t made any plans yet as far as when he would need a rehab.”

Best case for return: Boone guessed Torres possibly could begin playing rehab games immediately after going to Washington, D.C., next week as a rookie All-Star who won’t be able to play on the July 17 game at Nationals Park. “He’ll go to the All-Star Game and (Yankees head athletic trainer) Stevie Donohue will be there, so he’ll continue his treatment. But depending on how this week unfolds, we’ll kind of see where we’re at. Maybe (his rehab games begin) Wednesday. Maybe it’s the day after he goes. Those are discussions that we’ll have, especially if it’s on the shorter side of things that he’s good to go.”

Gary Sanchez, C

Injury: Right groin strain.

Status: Placed on 10-day disabled list on June 25. Eligible to be activated.

Latest: Sanchez took a full BP in an indoor cage on Monday at Oriole Park. “He gave me a nod like it went well,” Boone said. “He’s looking very much on track and feeling well.”

Best case for return: Sanchez could be beginning a short minor-league rehab assignment this weekend that likely will last one, two or three games, and baring a setback, he’ll likely be off the DL and playing on July 20 when the Yankees return from the All-Star Game to play the Mets in a Subway Series game at Yankee Stadium.

Jonathan Loaisiga, RHP

Injury: Right shoulder inflammation.

Status: Placed on Triple-A. Scranton Wilkes-Barre’s 7-day disabled list on July 7. Eligible to return on July 15.

Latest: Loaisiga was examined Monday in New York by Yankees team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad and given a cortisone shot. “He’ll be shut down for a couple of weeks. I think structurally they feel good about him and we’ll just see where we’re at in a couple weeks.”
