Rain-Shortened Drama: Yankees Complete Tigers Sweep

The New York Yankees (23-13) completed a three-game sweep of the Detroit Tigers (18-16) with a 5-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. The game was called after eight innings due to unplayable field conditions, but it didn’t dampen the Yankees’ performance.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Juan Soto stepped up to the plate with the game tied at two. With the bases loaded, Soto delivered a bases-clearing double that found the right-field corner, putting the Yankees ahead. His clutch hit proved to be the difference-maker in this rain-shortened contest.

Aaron Judge also contributed to the Yankees’ offensive display by crushing his seventh home run of the season. Meanwhile, Oswaldo Cabrera added an RBI double to the mix.

On the pitching side, Nestor Cortes took the mound for the Yankees and surrendered two runs over 6.1 innings, striking out nine Tigers. Although Ian Hamilton allowed two runs to score, they were charged to Cortes.
