The New York Yankees have started this season of the MLB 2024-2025 brilliantly, as they have won their first 5 matches, 4 against the Astros de Houston and 1 against the D-Backs de Arizona.
Despite the fact that Néstor Cortes has had a hard time being a starter for the Bronx team, he has done what he knows best, and he has had good teammates who have revealed it and closed it very well, all that plus the great hitting of Soto and Volpe and other offenses have given another completely different face to last season.
Something that had not been seen since 1992 and 1933 when they had also started those seasons very well, only unfortunately on those two occasions they did not manage to reach and win the World Series, but this is just beginning and the Bronx Mules are already showing that they can go very far this season.
Starter Luis Gil had a successful start in his return from Tommy John surgery, while Mexican pitcher Victor Gonzalez made his first save with the ‘Manhattan Mules’ and they consolidate their position at the top of the American League East of the MLB.
Anthony Volpe had his first four-hit game, including two doubles, and an RBI.
“We know what we’re capable of,” Volpe said. “It’s definitely nice when you feel like you’re doing all the work. We’re up against really good teams, so we see how we compare ourselves and we know we can compete against anyone.”
